IN THIS SECTION
Our Vocational School’s Computer Technologies Department aims to train qualified software developers demanded by the rapidly evolving IT sector. In our program, students receive robust education in areas such as computer hardware, algorithm design, programming languages, databases, web and mobile application development, operating systems, and computer networks.
Through hands-on courses and project work, students have the opportunity to experience all stages of the software development lifecycle. Additionally, sectoral collaborations and a mandatory internship ensure students gain practical knowledge and experience before entering the workforce.

The mission of the Computer Technologies Department is to train the qualified workforce needed in the IT and software sectors, equipping our students with the ability to effectively utilize current technologies, and develop analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Our program aims not only to equip students with technical knowledge but also to foster individuals who are committed to ethical values, are innovative, research-oriented, proficient in teamwork, and possess a high sense of professional responsibility.
We provide a strong education, training, and practice infrastructure to ensure our graduates become competitive professionals at both national and international levels in areas such as software development, database management, web and mobile applications, and system support services.
VISION
The vision of the Computer Technologies Department is to be a leading educational program preferred at national and international levels by training individuals who are innovative, creative, and solution-oriented in the field of software and information technologies.
Our goal is to make sustainable contributions to the IT sector by training graduates with an entrepreneurial spirit who can adapt to constantly evolving technology, and who monitor and develop new technologies.
ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Students must have applied for the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), made their choices during the preference period, and successfully registered at the institution where they were placed. A high school diploma (or equivalent) or sufficient score from the undergraduate entrance exam is required.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
To graduate from this program, students must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00, successfully complete all courses in the curriculum, and accumulate 120 ECTS credits. Students must also successfully complete their mandatory internship within the specified duration and characteristics (The GPA is calculated based on local credits).
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSESSMENT
Students are required to attend at least 70% of the course hours to be eligible for the final exam. A minimum of one midterm exam and one final exam is administered for each course. The passing grade is calculated by taking 40% of the midterm exam score and 60% of the final exam score. Students must score a minimum of 50 points on the final exam and have a minimum overall average of 45 points for the course. Success scores are converted into letter grades: AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC are successful; DC and DD are conditionally successful; and FF is considered a failure.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the department can work in positions such as Software Specialist, Database Administrator, Web and Mobile Application Developer, and System Support Specialist in software development companies, IT consulting firms, public institutions, and the private sector.
DEGREE AWARDED
Students who graduate from the program are awarded an "Associate Degree Diploma" and the professional title of "Technician" relevant to their field.
TRANSFERS (Yatay Geçiş)
Students may apply for internal transfer to other programs within Balıkesir Edremit Vocational School or transfer to different higher education institutions. Students wishing to transfer using their central placement score must have a YKS score from their registration year that is equal to or higher than the base score of the program they wish to transfer into.
VERTICAL TRANSFER OPPORTUNITIES (Dikey Geçiş)
Program graduates can transition to bachelor's degree programs such as Computer and Software Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Information Systems and Technologies, and Computer and Instructional Technologies Teaching by successfully passing the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) administered by ÖSYM.
